Privacy Policy

What UniStyle Does

UniStyle is a text formatting tool that converts plain text into Unicode styles (bold, italic, script, vaporwave, and more) that copy-paste into Discord, Notion, X/Twitter, Slack, and other apps. All formatting is performed entirely within your browser using JavaScript — no text is ever sent to any server.

Data We Collect

UniStyle collects no personal data. Specifically:

• Text you type or paste — processed locally in your browser only. Never transmitted anywhere.
• No account or sign-in required — we have no user accounts and no way to identify you.
• No analytics — we do not use Google Analytics, tracking pixels, or any third-party analytics service.
• No cookies — UniStyle does not set any cookies.

Local Storage (Extension and Web App)

UniStyle stores the following data locally on your device only, using your browser's built-in storage:

• Favorites — which text styles you have marked as favorites. Stored in localStorage (web app) or chrome.storage.local (extension) under the key tf-favs. Never leaves your device.
• Input history — the last 10 texts you formatted, stored locally under tf-hist so you can quickly re-use them. Never leaves your device.

This data is stored only on your device and is never transmitted to any server. You can clear it at any time by clearing your browser's local storage or uninstalling the extension.

Browser Extension — Permissions

The UniStyle browser extension requests the following permissions:

• contextMenus — adds a "Format with UniStyle" option when you right-click selected text on any webpage. The selected text is read locally to display formatted previews. It is never transmitted.
• activeTab — allows the extension to read selected text on the current tab when you trigger the context menu. Only active when you explicitly use the right-click feature. No background tab reading occurs.
• scripting — injects the formatting panel UI into the page when you use the right-click feature. Used only to display the overlay panel in your browser.
• storage — saves your favorites and history locally on your device using chrome.storage.local. Data stays on your device only.

Third-Party Services

The UniStyle website may display advertisements served by Google AdSense. Google's ad serving may use cookies and collect data subject to Google's Privacy Policy. You can opt out of personalized advertising at adssettings.google.com.

The UniStyle browser extension does not display any advertisements and makes no third-party network requests.

Children's Privacy

UniStyle does not knowingly collect any information from children under 13. The tool contains no features directed at children and collects no personal data from any user.

Changes to This Policy

If this policy changes in a meaningful way (for example, if analytics or data collection is added), the "Last updated" date at the top of this page will be updated and the change will be noted in the extension's changelog. The current policy always lives at unistyle.io/privacy.
